Haruatai Pool

Ōtaki, Kāpiti Coast

Embarking on the rebuild of Ōtaki’s Haruatai Swimming Pool, we knew the project would be demanding as all public swimming pool projects are, however the rigours of improving the previous community pool was well worth the end result.

Rebuilding the pool hall, we raised the height by 5m, replacing the roof and walls of the structure, adding an access ramp to the main pool whilst also overhauling the reception and entrance, installing acoustic panelling, new air-conditioning and other features you’d expect of such a public space. Seismic strengthening was a given with a new grade of 40MPa being signed off.

One feature we loved was the new community-designed splash-pad constructed next to the pool that’s free for public use.
